Tommy’s Express is the nation’s fastest-growing self-serve car wash franchise. With its growth, the team recognized an opportunity to share a compelling narrative about the innovative spirit that’s served to guide the company from a small-town car wash in the 1960s to an industry leader with global franchise reach. The goal was to create something more than the expected corporate video; Tommy’s was looking to create a cornerstone asset for its franchise partner recruitment pipeline with a 10-year lifespan, achieved by way of visual storytelling.
What We Did
With nearly 60 years of history behind the company, the best place to start seemed to be in listening. We talked with founders and current leadership to map out key moments in company history, and to understand the themes present throughout its evolution. With six days of production, we filmed core interviews, capturing narrative content first, then paused, plotting visual moments to keenly align with the direction of the working narrative. This phased production approach gave us the ability to craft a longform brand piece that stays specific, artful, and evergreen.
